Camp Information
The Camp:
The Screaming Eagle Cross Country Camp is a great opportunity for young distance runners to learn new training techniques and meet new friends, and will serve as a great source of motivation to boost their summer training. The University of Southern Indiana offers an ideal training location: endless miles of trails, a national caliber cross country course, recreational facilities, and air conditioned residence halls. The camp will be staffed by current and former collegiate athletes from the University of Southern Indiana as well as other collegiate programs.
The Program:
Since the program began in 1979, USI distance runners have collected 141 All-American Awards in Cross Country and Track & Field, including 12 during the 2016-17 season. Head Coach Mike Hillyard has been named GLVC Cross Country Coach of the Year 24 times. The men’s Cross Country team has captured 12 consecutive GLVC titles and a record 23 tiles overall. The women’s program has won 6 consecutive titles and 11 overall. USI runners have been victorious at the Penn Relays, Drake Relays, Mt. SAC Relays, and at the NCAA II National Championships.
Frequently Asked Questions:
· Cost: $275 Resident / $200 Commuter (3 or more from same team: $240 each)
· Age: Camp is open to athletes entering grades 7-12.
· Check-In: June 21st from 1:00-2:00pm, Physical Activities Center
· Check-out: June 24th from 3:00-4:00 pm
· Staff: College coaches, athletes, and former athletes
· Meals: 3 meals provided per day
· What to bring: Pillow, blanket, sheets, towels, toiletries, swim suit, flash light, running clothes
· Additional recreational activities will be planned daily
· Daily seminars covering a wide range of running-related topics
· Registration deadline: June 15th or until full
